Why are we spending so much on this building? Why these architects?
Because this building is part of the mission. Colonial will always keep Jesus at the center and will always welcome people home. Every detail of this space is designed with that in mind. This building says, "you’re welcome here." It says, "this place is different." It reflects beauty, creativity, and peace that points to something greater.
We chose architects who understood what we are building—not just a church, but a space that encourages both reverence and belonging. A building that glorifies God not just in function, but in form. One that feels like a sanctuary the moment you step inside, and doesn’t compete with the message, but reinforces it.
A building like this breaks down walls. It invites curiosity. It stirs faith. It creates a sense of expectation for those who know Jesus and a sense of welcome for those who don’t—yet. And when the building feels vibrant, alive, and full of purpose, it helps the life inside reflect the same. This is more than a building. It’s part of how we build a church that’s focused on Jesus and ready to welcome people home.
How is this being paid for?
Through a combination of internal generosity, external gifts, Legacy Partners, and bank financing.
50% generosity from internal sources
33% bank financing
17% external gifts and giving from Legacy Partners
Are we taking on too much risk?
We are pursuing this project with prayerful humility, wise counsel, and a deep trust in God’s provision. We are doing our due diligence financially and spiritually - and asking the whole church to join in both faith and discernment.
When will we be able to break ground?
This is entirely dependent on Make Room giving. We have already secured the land and have a builder and architect in place. We will go as fast or as slow as God directs and allows us.
How long is it going to take to build the new building?
Once we are able to break ground, we anticipate the building taking 15-18 months to complete. Like with any building project, this is an estimated timeline and is subject to change.
Why not just stay in our current building? Why now?
It’s natural to feel connected to what’s familiar and want to stay there. But this next step isn’t about comfort or convenience — it’s about faith and obedience. We believe God is asking us to make room for others: for families who haven’t walked through our doors yet, for the kids who need to hear about Jesus, for the neighbors we haven’t reached, and for the future generations we are raising up.
If we only plan for what is here right now, we risk missing what God is doing and where He is leading. So this project isn’t about us — it’s about faithfully preparing space for the work God wants to do next. We’re building not just for today, but for tomorrow. And we’re inviting everyone to be a part of that vision.
Will this change the feel of our church?
Change is always part of growth, but our heart and vision stays the same. We’re committed to building an exciting, vibrant, Bible-based church whose focus is Jesus and mission is to welcome home — no matter the size of the building.
Isn’t church more than just a building?
Absolutely. The Church is the people, not the property. But we also believe that having a functional, welcoming, and God-honoring space helps us serve people better. The building is a tool, not the goal.
Will this affect regular church ministries? No. Our goal is to move forward with Make Room without compromising our current ministries. We will continue to invest in people, community, and outreach throughout this journey.
How can I be a part of Make Room?
You can participate in three key ways:
Pray - Ask God to lead, provide, and unify us.
Give - Sacrificial giving is what makes this possible.
Share - Tell others the story of what God is doing.
Why can’t we just make this happen with the tithe?
The tithe, giving the first 10% of our income, is what supports the ongoing ministry and operations of the church. It sustains the current ministry of our church. But what we’re asking for in this building project is about the future — expanding our capacity to reach more people. Projects like these are significant investments, and they go beyond what the regular tithe is designed to support. That’s why we’re inviting everyone to prayerfully consider giving above and beyond their tithe — to help make this vision a reality.
How long are you asking me to make my pledge commitment?
We’d encourage you to view your pledge as the total you are committed to give to Make Room regardless of how long it takes the building to be completed. On the pledge portal, you can select a timeline and frequency of giving that works best for you.
What should I commit to give?
Ask God what you should give. When we ask, He answers.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5
